Mister Black inadvertently assists Zorie when he sets out to claim her for his own. After one date gone awry, he senses that Zorie is in some sort of danger and sets out to help her. The first is a librarian at the university where she works named Grimm.

Unable to speak out against Reuben, Zorie finds two unlikely allies. Essentially, he is able to use mind control to force her to act out his most depraved fantasies. Reuben is a mesmer, a male who can influence the thoughts and actions of susceptible females. The story centers on Zorie, a university lecturer who falls under the spell of Reuben. 'Wicked Ways' had a promising and original premise, but the story fell flat for me. Sadly, this was one of those stories for me.

I love dark, disturbing stories, but recently I haven't been able to find one that I 'connect' with.
